Several Downtown Pittsburgh streets to be closed Saturday morning

Several streets in Downtown Pittsburgh will be closed Saturday morning so crews can install new cooling towers on the roofs of EQT Place and One PPG Place.

Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri said roads closures will occur from 7-11 a.m., weather permitting.

Togneri said the operation may be moved to Sunday should weather cause a delay.

Roads include:

• Penn Avenue, between Sixth and Ninth streets.

• Liberty Avenue, between Sixth and Ninth streets.

• Seventh Street, between Liberty Avenue and Fort Duquesne Boulevard.

• Boulevard of the Allie,s between Stanwix and Wood streets.

• Fourth Avenue, between Stanwix and Wood streets.

Some downtown Port Authority bus routes may be affected by the closures.

Riders can call Port Authority customer service at 412-442-2000 or go to portauthority.org for detour information.

Togneri said residents are advised to avoid downtown areas and aforementioned streets during the temporary closure.
