Cooper-Siegel Community Library will host a virtual edition of “Adventures Outside the Burgh” on Dec. 18.

The program will tour Gombe, Tanzania — the forest home of Jane Goodall’s chimpanzee research.

Participants can register at engagedpatrons.org and take the tour anytime.

Keep trees healthy over holidays

The Aspinwall Shade Tree commission reminds residents to attach holiday decorations to street trees gently.

Don’t use nails, staples or screws, which open the bark to infection, and remove decorations at the end of the holiday season.

Also, commission members urge residents to use tree- and pet-friendly de-icing alternatives instead of sidewalk salt.

Professor to host rocket talk

“NASA Live YouTube Event” will be hosted by the Cooper-Siegel Community Library from 8 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 20.

Professor and pilot Mark Guillette will discuss space rockets, with an interactive live chat feature.

Register at engagedpatrons.org.

Guillette attended the University of Central Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Arts degree in applied sociology. He attended Nova Southeastern University where he earned a doctorate in higher educational leadership. He is an FAA Certified Pilot, CDL-Class A license holder and is a tenured professor of sociology at Valencia College in Kissimmee, Fla., where he has taught for more than 25 years.
