A woman was in stable condition after being shot in Carrick early Thursday morning, according to Pittsburgh police.

Police responded to reports of multiple shots being fired in the 1900 block of Brownsville Road just before 1:30 a.m.

While police were heading there, a 911 call came in for a woman who had been shot in that area and was being taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

The woman had a gunshot wound to her right upper chest and arm, police said. She was said to be alert and conscious.

Police said they were interviewing the victim and witnesses.
