For families worried about being able to afford back-to-school supplies, a Sewickley Boy Scout troop has teamed up with a local business to help.

Boy Scout Troop 243, which has members from Sewickley and the surrounding communities, has partnered with North Star Chevrolet in Moon Township to put together backpacks filled with supplies to be distributed Tuesday at Sharon Community Church, 522 Carnot Road in Moon Township.

Each backpack is filled with a school supply kit, a drink and a snack. Members of the Troop will be on hand, wearing masks and social distancing, to help pass out the backpacks. The distribution will take place Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
