A 29-year-old man was charged with involuntary manslaughter after an assault Wednesday left another man dead in a Kennedy Township hotel.

The suspect, Cecil Guy, was detained after police responded to the motel along the 100 block of Kisow Drive shortly before 8 p.m. and found a man unresponsive with a head injury.

Michael C. Thomson, 53, of Pittsburgh died from the injuries at Ohio Valley Hospital, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office. Thomson’s death was ruled a homicide.

Guy is accused of punching Thomson in the face and head after learning he said something inappropriate to his girlfriend, police said.

Anyone with further information should call the county police tip line at 833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
