Allegheny County Health Department Officials reported 158 new covid-19 cases, 12 new hospitalizations and no new deaths on Thursday.
This is the second time this week that new covid-19 case numbers have dipped below 200.
New covid-19 case numbers have been fluctuating since the county experienced a record-setting 233 cases last Thursday, followed by 177 cases on Friday and 150 on Saturday. On Sunday, the county reported 127 new covid-19 cases. Numbers increased to 218 new cases on Monday, 204 new cases on Tuesday, and 230 new cases on Wednesday.
This brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Allegheny County to 4,367. Of those, 4,180 are confirmed and 187 are probable, county health officials said.
Ages for the newest cases range from 5-months to 90-years-old, with the median age being 29. Positive results are from tests that span June 25 through July 7, county health officials said.
The death toll remained at 196. Of those, 184 are confirmed and 12 are probable. Those who died are between the ages of 23 and 103, with 84 being the median age.
More than 400 people have been hospitalized for coronavirus-related issues since the virus was first reported in the county on March 14. As of Thursday, that number had increased by 12 to 443. The new cases and hospitalizations come from 1,632 test results, county health officials said.
The county health department has imposed restrictions to help stem the increased number of covid-19 cases.
