Police: 1 person killed in morning crash in Pittsburgh’s South Side

One person was killed during an early morning crash on Pittsburgh’s South Side, according police spokesperson Maurice Matthews.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of West Carson Street around 1:45 a.m. for reports of a vehicle that crashed into a pole and caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the flames and extricated a male driver who was pronounced dead by medics, according to Matthews.

The man was not identified.

No other passengers or vehicles were involved in the crash.

The collision Investigation Unit is investigating.
