A Pittsburgh woman was killed and another woman was seriously hurt in a head-on car crash Friday morning in Carrick, police said.

Wendy Eberle, 60, died at UPMC Mercy hospital shortly after 9:30 a.m., about a half-hour after the two-vehicle crash on Saw Mill Run Boulevard near Moredale Street, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said Friday night.

Her cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the head, trunk and extremities.

A second woman, 35, was listed in serious condition earlier in the day, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

Eberle was driving a car north on Saw Mill Run Boulevard when her vehicle collided with a car driven by the 35-year-old woman, who was traveling in the opposite direction, Cruz said. Witnesses told police they believed one of the drivers may have experienced a medical emergency.

The medical examiner did not release a cause of death for Eberle on Friday.

Both women were driving alone.

The police Collision Investigation Unit is investigating, Cruz said.
