Oakmont officials approved a new two-year deal with Delmont-based Hoffman Kennels for animal control services.

Council approved the contract via 6-0 vote at its night meeting Monday.

Councilwoman Carrie DelRosso was absent.

Borough Manager Scot Fodi said the agreement’s effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2021 at a $215 monthly fee.

Hoffman Kennels has been Oakmont’s animal control officer for years. The current two-year contract was set to expire at the end of December.

“It’s a professional service that is not required to be advertised for bidding,” Fodi said. “However, should the borough desire or need to find a different provider, then certainly some form of request for proposals can occur.”

Council members said they have not had a problem with Hoffman Kennels’ services.

The company also inked new deals with, among others, Penn Hills and Arnold earlier this year.
