Gilpin police officers are updating their on-the-job technology.

The department was authorized by supervisors Monday to buy four body cameras for officers.

Police Chief Chris Fabec also was authorized to install computers in the two patrol vehicles.

He also will buy two desktop computers for use by officers in the police department in the borough building.

Gilpin secretary Sharon Long said supervisors approved purchase of the four body cameras for about $1,400, two laptops for a little more than $1,300 and two desktop computers for about $1,500.

Supervisors authorized the police department to spend up to $5,000 to account for car mounts and related expenses, Long said.
