Pittsburgh felon sentenced to 5 years for illegal gun possession

A Pittsburgh felon has been sentenced in federal court to five years in prison for illegal firearm possession.

Andre Charles Hall, 22, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.

Authorities said Hall, a convicted felon, illegally possessed a .40-caliber pistol in October 2016.

Pittsburgh police discovered the firearm after Hall led them on a high speed chase through the Hill District.

Hall crashed a stolen vehicle he was driving, and then attempted to escape on foot before being apprehended.

He had a previous burglary conviction that prohibited him from having a gun.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Pittsburgh police investigated the case.
