Pittsburgh has received more than $200,000 for repairs and upgrades at three city senior centers, courtesy of grants approved by Gov. Tom Wolf and the state Department of Aging, the Mayor’s Office reported.
Healthy Active Living Centers in Brighton Heights, Greenfield and Homewood will benefit from the grants, according to the city.
Pittsburgh intends to use $100,000 for extensive renovations to the Brighton Heights center on McClure Avenue. Work includes a reconfiguration of the center along with electrical, heating, plumbing and lighting installation.
A floor will be replaced and a wall will be installed at the Greenfield center on Greenfield Avenue. A $66,055 grant also will help pay for new programming, including classes on the English language.
A $38,200 grant for the Homewood center will help pay for upgrades, including a fence, parking lot and exercise equipment.
