The Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania will hold its fifth annual Comedy for a Cause to benefit the organization’s free patient support services.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on April 27 at the Sokol Club Banquet Hall, 2912 East Carson St. on Pittsburgh’s South Side. Buffet dinner starts at 7 p.m., followed by the 8 p.m. show featuring three comedians.
Tickets are $20 for show only, $40 with dinner.
Entertaining the crowd will be headliner Gene Collier, featured comic Larry XL and emcee Joey Welsh.
Collier is a Pittsburgh sports writer, co-author of the play “The Chief,” based on Steelers’ founder and owner Art Rooney, a popular radio guest and stand-up comedian. Larry XL is a Baltimore-based comic and Welsh, from Pittsburgh, is co-founder of “We Got Next Comedy,” a podcast with fellow Pittsburgh comedians Eric Weber, Trey McDonough and Chris Scriva.
The evening also will feature silent and live auctions of autographed sports memorabilia and a basket raffle. A cash bar will be available.
Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania (MGA) marked its 64th year of service to people affected by Myasthenia Gravis, an autoimmune disorder of extreme muscle weakness with no known cause or cure.
